Hip Hop Hangover and 2 Sketches 4 You

If you didn't join in on the fun yesterday at the Unity forum on SCS, you missed out! There were tons of giveaways and prizes! You HAVE to join in next week, you won't regret it. Here's a card I made using the Tiny Trinity stamp, and the Daisy Days stamp from Unity. I don't have much creative mojo today, so I needed to get some inspiration. I know that the gals at 2 Sketches 4 You always have a great sketch to use, so I went over and used their sketch for this card. And did you hear? I'm a new stamp designer for Unity!! I'm so excited! Have a great weekend!

Inspired Blueprints Sketch #2

The sketches at Inspired Blueprints are great. They make it so easy to create a page to love. I didn't have any black cardstock for my background, so I used kraft paper and smeared my black Stazon ink pad all over it. I think I like it better than just plain black anyway.

Coupon box

I made this using the cute paper from Pinecone Press. There's a sheet of paper full of these fun coupons. I designed a little box that they would fit in and made a matching card. It was a pretty fun little project. And quick!

My pregnant Hillbilly Mom!

My mom is hilarious! She went to a western themed Halloween party as a pregnant redneck hillbilly. Check her out! Is she sexy or what??? Casey didn't care, he gave her kisses anyway.

You HAVE to go and participate in these challenges. It's a new challenge each week inspired by an ETSY store. If you win, you'll win a prize from the ETSY store that sponsored the challenge. It's a lot of fun and inspirational. Art inspiring art.

What do you think?

Should I go dark? I put this wig and make up on to pick my kids up from school today. They just stared at me for a while with a half grin on their face. I had to role the window down and tell them to get in before they actually believed it was me. HA! It was pretty fun.

Hip Hop Hangover

OUT FOR PUBLICATION YAY!!!!!!

I've been working on a few things this week. This is one of them. I thought I'd post it for Hip Hop Hangover today. Hip Hop is held every Thursday on the Unity forum on SCS. There are tons of prizes given away every week. TONS of prizes.

This project uses the Daisy Days stamp from Unity for the the dimensional flower.

Friend - You make me happy

This card was so much fun. I really got into making it. I won the Daisy Days stamp set from Unity, and am soooooo happy. I love it. Those flowers are all from that stamp set. Aren't those great?! I made the card for the Caardvarks challenge. It's to make a card using a monogram. I also decided to use the Color Challenge colors from SCS. Pink, Chocolate Chip, and Old Olive. I hope that it's obvious that it's a flower pot. All my embellishments kind of over powered it.

My Inspiration

Kelsey is my inspiration. Just look at this picture she drew of Papa on the longboard! So this is the story behind the picture.

My dad, who is "50 something" will never be old. He will be 80 years old and still trying to defy the laws of gravity and the natural aging process. He's fun, and spontaneous, and full of life. I love it. My kids love it. Anyone who knows him loves it. So he decided that he would borrow my brother in law's longboard for a while. He slowly worked his way into being comfortable on it. One day he decided he would go down a steep hill and have my mom film. Well, he soon found out that when you're going too fast on a longboard, there is no possible way to jump off and keep your footing. He try to bail and ended up eating the pavement. It was really bad! His glasses broke and were shoved into his head right above his eyebrow. He had to get 13 stiches on the outside, and 3 on the inside. He broke his arm, and still can't lift it a certain way. He bruised his sternum so bad he could hardly breath.

4 days later, with a limp arm, black eye, bruised chest, and sore body, he got back on the longboard and tried to hang on to my truck as I drove off. Oh the thoughts that go through my kids' minds. They just sit there silently thinking.

So this is the picture that keeps getting drawn by Kelsey. You can see the cut above his eye. I love it and just had to share.

Happy Birthday to a dear friend

Happy Birthday Chris. You may have had a hard time with life, but you made mine better. I can remember laughing a lot. And smiling a lot. I loved your different personality and I especially loved your friendship. It amazes me that even after 11 years, I still feel you here, and still have a broken heart. Thank you for all the laughs, and for needing me. I miss you.

Inspired Blueprints #1 and a Hip Hop Hangover

So Hip Hop is so crazy. So many prizes and chatting and challenges. So everyone has decided to have Hip Hop Hangover. Just a place(HERE) where we can chat and talk about all that went on the day before. To celebrate HHH, I'm posting a page I made for a sketch challenge that I used Unity stamps on. I found this new sketch challenge site called Inspired Blueprints. I'm so excited because the design team is amazing. I think this is going to be a great place for me to start scrapbooking more. I forgot how much I love to scrapbook in all the fun and craziness of making cards. I still love to make cards, but scrapbooking is my first love. I can't seem to get a good picture this morning, so this will have to do until I have time to take another one.

I used punches to cut out the circles and flowers, and then sewed and distressed them. The heart stamp is from the Beautiful Life collection from Unity. Did I mention I love Unity? Some of the stamps are HUGE! Perfect for scrapbookers. I love that! Did I also mention that they are extremely generous? Well, they are. If you join us for Hip Hop on Thursdays, you'll have a chance to win lots and lots of prizes. I've already won a ton. Thanks you Unity!

SCS Color Challenge, Unity Wednesday

Here is the card I made for the SCS color challenge. I still need to make my masculine card for the Unity Wednesday challenge. I'll post it later on today. For this card, I used a Unity stamp for the flower center. The flowers and smile are cut using my Walk in My Garden cricut cartridge. Then I used black stickles, and glossy accents(from Ranger) to shine up the flowers.

Also, just to let you know, these are the newest releases at Unity. Click HERE to go to the Unity store.

GOOD LUCK with EtsyInspired #6!!!!
~Art inspiring Art~

This is my inspiration piece for the week. I made a circle album ornament. I recently made a card with pumpkins using this technique, and thought it would be perfect for the Etsy Inspired challenge. I love the name of the store, Circles are Forever. I believe that families are forever like a circle is. I'm making one for each of my kids to hang near the entry.

See what the other design team members came up with:

Ashley
Jami

Ryann
Tiff

Here are the instructions for the album. (Just a warning, I'm not the best at explaining.)

*1 Cut 5 circles out of patterned paper or cardstock. I used SU patterned paper. The size of circles I used are 5 1/2". I used the Martha Stewart circle cutter. You could do this album with any size circles you like.

2* Fold each circle in half, being sure the side you want to show is on the inside of the fold.

3*Glue sides of circles together by the halves, until they almost meet full circle.

4* Place piece of ribbon in the center between the two last pieces that are not yet glued. Be sure it stays in the center.

5* Glue the last halves together, and tie a knot in the ribbon at the top and bottom of the album so it doesn't slip out.

6*Decorate. I sewed the edges of my circles before gluing together, but it's not necessary.

7* USE UNITY STAMPS!!! That's what I used, because I love them.

Getting closer!!

This is what we've been working on. We finally have rock on our house. It still needs to be grouted, but it's been raining. We've had to work inside this weekend. My most favorite part is the porch. I love the porch! I can't wait to be able to sit out there with a hot cup of coffee or cider and watch the rain or the sunset. It faces west, so we can watch the sunset perfectly. I'll take some pictures of it when we move in. I am so excited!! Hopefully I'll have some more updates soon.

Caardvarks

Caardvarks is giving a Scor-it board to the winner of the challenge this week. You just have to use your Scor-it to make a card. And if you don't have one, just make a card using scored lines or some type of scoring on it. This is the card I made for the challenge. I think I'll make something else as well.
